Hey, Here is my review of the R1.
Even if you don't understand french, you can look at it, there are 2 videos, more than 80 pictures and a comparison with the P3! ![]() http://labo.generationmp3.com/2009/1...ng-rmix-yp-r1/ Google translation Conclusion: The R1 is a good mp3 player in the whole but the new features are not as good as the others. Beat DJ feature is a useless gadget, hardly funny and the TV out is not very good. Besides, the firmware is not perfect yet: the UI is not smooth, there are still some bugs and above all the DNSe control is disastrous, which provides a very bad battery life. But the R1 has a very good audio quality. No reencoded movies can be easily watched even if the screen size is a bit too small for feature films. And the bluetooth feature may be very practical in some cases. But numerous features are similar to the P3. So does it have a raison d'être (whaouhh a french word )? One has to admit the R1 has no real arguments to stand out from the P3. Actually the R1 is a P3 but a little smaller and with less features. That doesn't keep it from being a good mp3 player but the P3 will likely put it in the shade!Good points: * Audio quality * Supports many audio codecs * Finition * Good size * RDS and recording FM radio * Support videos without reencoding * UMS/MTP * TV out * Sold with in-ear-phones (in France) * Bluetooth Bad points: * No tactile buttons for playing controls. * Non standard USB connector * Gadget or useless features (Beat DJ, calendar) * TV out quality and video cable in option * Average battery life and even disastrous with DNSe enabled * Bad transfer rate

What I do like about the R1, is the horizontal UI layout compared to the P3's vertical. I don't like the big plastic volume button. :x

However it's easier to use than the P3's volume button
