Went to fitness center today and, as I often do, played basketball with my e280R (Rhapsody/Rockbox'd) on my hip and then went in pool later. No I didn't take the e280 in the pool with me, but later when I changed clothes I threw it into the same small bag that my swimming trunks--still wet--were in. Though I have a "skin" around my e280, much water still made its way into the player.
Horrors, I turned it on--the "blue ring of life" was there, but the display was blank. Still, I heard many-times of the "let it dry off" trick, so I removed the backplate 4-screws, removed the battery--left the player (sans back & battery) to dry on the hood of the car, for about 4 hours. Tried it out just about 30 minutes ago, it works as good as new. Thank goodness. I did have a spare e280 (v1, Rockbox'd) in my drawer, and I was preparing for it to replace it--now I won't have to. Whew! Don't know if anyone cares, it's not a high-priority thread by any means, but hopefully it will encourage someone else if their e-series player get a little damp from careless handling. I sure will be more careful from now-on. (PS--I need to update my signature, I'm not looking to buy a Cowon D2 at this point.)
