I also tried to benchmark the battery life but my first attempt failed: the R0 turned off during the night for unknown reason. I'll try it again later

So I don't think they will change that in a future upgrade.
Of course I hope they'll change their mind but there is almost no chance..

edit:
I got the R0 for my review.
I'll test battery life and transfer rates soon
I agree w/the other poster in saying that if Cowon can do proper sd card integration, the Samsung can do it as well. For them to say they cant, because it'll take too long to rebuild the library, is a lie (by Samsung, not you Iebellium). Even the Sansa Fuze integrates the sd card well, though it's slower on the first boot, it's acceptable.

Samsung better get on the ball, I want 1 of these,............

Waiting for the battery benchmarks!

lebellium or any other expert...

On the M1 thread a comment was made that Samsung seems to be giving up on putting their more expensive players on the US market. If that is true, what's the chance of seeing the R0 in the US? I'd like to know, because if it's not coming, I want to get one of the Samsung players that are on sale right now for the Christmas season!

Well I don't know if it is true, I'm in touch with Samsung Korea and France but not US.
But normaly you have the R1 in the USA so there is no reason you don't get the R0 which is cheaper.

Wow I just looked at this player looks pretty neat.

Pity I already ordered my XFi2..guess we'll have to wait & see. This player for sure looks cool.

Button placements remind me of my Zen Vision:M!

Then you'll know the battery life

Hmmmm I've had the K5 and p2 and I figured samsung was headed in the right direction...unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case...even if this does get released the battery life is very typical...sound wise probably pails to it's competition...as far as screen size that is kinda out there...but the codec support is there so to me it just feels like samsung did the swing and a miss type of deal here.

I have just finished reading the review. Big thanks at Lebellium.

IMHO actual battery life is a bit disappointing (especially if you take into account that effects are turned off, and i usually like some EQ), as well as the absence of a microphone.

Just one quick question.

Can you make this player MTP also through the settings? or it's only UMS?

And if you use WMP 11 for transferring does it pick up the album art which WMP11 shows?

Or it only picks up album art in the ID3 tag? like iPod does in iTunes?

Thanks

What do you want me to elaborate exactly?
Read the other thread "gmp3 review of the R0", there are pictures and a video

@skybluedream: yep you can choose MTP or UMS in the settings. As regards album arts I don't know, never will I use WMP to transfer my musics, even for testing lol

Hey all, received my yp-r0 currently running 1.06. I've downloaded the latest firmware, how do you update it? it's a .rom file?

I tried updating automatically via emodio, but it takes ages to download, then errors when trying to perform the update!

To follow up, the automatic update finally worked.. Now to play

@update

problem solved.

Welcome all, I just received my brand new yp-r0 and updated firmware, cause it's from france (in manual it is said that in france it has 5mW/channel instead of 20mW/channel everywhere else) but emodio did the 1.10 french, is there any way to install the .rom file which I downloaded from Hong-Kong website in order to make it more powerfull.

thanks in advance...

Hi... greethings from Italy!

I bought that player some days ago because I need a true mp4 audio player (instead of my crappy Ipod Shuffle) able to play my Nero mp4 encoded files... and the R0 does the job very well... I'm having problems only with the tags: it showes only "unknown" in each field (even if Foobar2000 and Mp3Tag recognize the tags)...

It works anyway very well, even connected to my Denon amplifier!

cheers and beers!
