Check out ebay, as they often have sellers from Korea for cases. Good deals can be had, and the quality is usually top notch.

ok, this is bad, but i think that with the 16gb version i can ignore it.
According to your own experience, how long does the battery last on mp3 playback only? |

I'm waiting for Samsung to give me a commercial version before testing battery life. For the moment I have an old sample and I cannot know if the battery is the same.

The card handling is a bit of a let down, any idea whether Samsung plans to change that in a future firmware version ?

lebellium, could you please tell me two things
1) confirm yours uses MTP and it's not recognized as an UMS device? 2) benchmark the transfer speed while loading songs Damn, I can't choose between this one and the sony nwz-s545. As there is no sd integration, the slot looks useless to me, and if it's another MTP device, there is no reason to pick this one over the sony. I don't care about video support for both. On the other hand, the sony is scratch-prone and uses a proprietary usb port. But it's cheaper. Both are tactile, SQ should be great on both, looks like the sony has a little more battery, as the cnet review rates it at 30h (sony says 42h) on mp3 playback while the samsung is rated at 30h by samsung itself, so it should be less in a real setting. The only thing that could push me towards the samsung is a greater write speed. Suggestions? |

1) Who said that? all latest Samsung players are UMS
2) I'm waiting for the commercial release. Transfert speed depends on the Flash Memory used, if it is good or bad quality. Normaly I get the commercial release very soon, Samsung has mine.

datasheet on italian samsung site
http://www.samsung.com/it/consumer/t...pec&fullspec=F says it's mtp for europe and usa and ums for the rest of the world. Actually, the q1 i recently bought as a gift for a friend of mine is MTP. In France it shouldn't be different (unless the samples you receive are not EU but insted the asian release, just guessing). |

Just trust me, I'm a Samsung Expert since 2005...I know Samsung mp3 player better than Samsung itself...There are so many mistakes in Samsung documentation...And I have to report them myself...
1) The Q1 is the last native MTP Samsung mp3 player (However there is a tutorial for UMS). Moreover the Q1 has been released for a while now and is out of production. So if you bought it recently, you just bought an old model still in stock in a shop... 2) On all newest Samsung mp3 players, you can choose MTP or UMS in the seetings with a EU or US region code. With a KR region code, it's only UMS. And the region code has nothing to do with the hardware or sample or whatever. My Sample is in EU region code with the latest firmware (1.10).

What I meant is, since it uses 2 different music libraries (one for the card and one for the internal memory), if this is the way Samsung intended it to be or they're planning to merge them in a future upgrade?
TIA

The Korean developper told me it would take too much time to access the library if the mp3 player has to check the external memory every time. he argued that the consumer doesn't want to wait 20 seconds every time he uses the mp3 player.
So I don't think they will change that in a future upgrade. Of course I hope they'll change their mind but there is almost no chance.. edit: I got the R0 for my review. I'll test battery life and transfer rates soon
