Actual dimension are given on Creative's Zii site: 115 x 62 x 12 mm. That's a little longer than a Touch, about the same width, and just under 1/2 inch thick. Thicker than the Touch. Almost exactly the same as an iPhone though.

Touch: 110 x 61.8 x 8.5 mm.
iPhone: 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.4 mm

Sure has a weird name. Eggs and Pods are very similiar- they're both containers aren't they?

Anyway, I think it looks nice but I won't be buying one, since I dislike touch screen interfaces and I don't need another player at the moment.

Anyone else thinking of buying?

"Egg" is simply a way to express that it's not yet hatched yet. Still time for development. The Zii (no egg) will be their retail product. The Egg has speaker and mic, and most likely is ready to handle a cell phone chip should any developer (phone company) wish to turn it into one.

"Pod" means essentially the same thing. It's clear to me Creative is aiming straight at both the iPod Touch and the iPhone. The Zii Egg has EVERY hardware feature we've been asking for in a PMP, and potentially every software feature too.

Why are Creative devices always so thick? The ZV:M was a brick, why don't more companies reach iPod levels of thinness? Is it the cost of components that small or something?

My Zen Mozaic is about the same thickness as my Sansa Clip, if you remove the clip.

I may sound like a noob here but it seems open for developpers to make apps and all but.. can it come preloaded with a working OS and the basic things like audio, video, games (basic ish...) so that I can just buy one and use it without sifting and paying for apps?

As far as I know, the consumer one should be just like the developer version. Why develop apps for a device that isn't like the prototype?

At less than 1/2" thick, the EGG is thinner than about half my collection of players.

Yeah to be honest I don't know all that much about the new Zen players, I've just used a Vision M and come on, 18mm thick!

Yes, itll have all the basics. The apps might give you more choices too, for audio, video, etc

The drawing means it has no useful tactile buttons, just like the rest of the touch screen players nowadays (except the S9).

Who the hell wants a camera button when it has no play/pause, or even volume, or ffwd/rew? This is ultimate fail... in iPhone form factor.
