Exclamation Firmware 2.31 Beta2
Firmware 2.31 Beta 2 is out and yes, it has support for mp3 gapless!

Release Notes:

- Support gapless playback in MP3 files.

- Improved DivX3 playback performance and hours of continuous playback.

- Fixed the error that audio synchronization was not working properly when some AVI 2.0 files are
searched in 0 second.

- Fixed the error that some files display frame rate incorrectly.

- Fixed the error that audio plays faster than video in some video files.

- Fixed date created of DMB, DAB, and recording files.

Gapless playback in MP3 files:


1. MP3 Gapless playback is the uninterrupted playback of consecutive audio tracks without intervening
silence sections in front and end of files that are created while compressing mp3 files.

2. COWON S9 supports gapless playback in MP3 files that are converted by LAME MP3 encoder such as
type of plugins.

3. Gapless playback won't be supported, if original audio file contains silence part in front and end before
converting MP3 files.

I wouldn't have any idea, but the 2.31beta and 2.31beta2 both came with font upgrades.

Has the issue which causes microgaps to occasionally appear during FLAC playback been resolved? I have not had a chance to test the new beta out yet. Thanks, Milan

Did anybody notice that the boot up is a bit slower?
Usually, boot up is slow for the 1st time after copying songs/videos, but later, it's fine.
But, in 2.31 b2, I observed that it's slow eveytime.

My boot time is still around 5secs, and I have only about 2gb's of free space. And as for the gapless - both Pink Floyd's "The Wall" & "The Dark Side Of The Moon" are gapless. And I've not heard any "microgaps" as some have said to experience.

Funny thing is, I'd wanted a P3 & Cowon has given almost all I could ask for. Playlist support, drag & drop for UNCONVERTED videos, and now GAPLESS!!!!

COWON is the SHITTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! Cowon S9 - FTW!!!!

Oh ok. I guess I'm the one who is experiencing slow boot up. But, by slow, I don't mean 10 secs or something. Just that previously, it used to boot up in 4-5 seconds and now, it taken 2 seconds more.

Darkside, please avoid using txt tlk. Lol.

And yeah, I agree that Cowon is the shit!

Try re-flashing the FW again. That might help, as it sometimes needs to be done twice (on a rare occasion).

Otherwise, the S9 is da' shizzle ma' nizzle, it's da' dizzle!!!!

Gapless - FINALLY!

Now all the players I use on a daily basis (except the idiotic O2) are gapless.
