Help Which formats ARE supported (flv, resolution, etc.)?

Hello, i DONT own any S9, but am thinking of buying a WHITE-COLOURED S9 with DMB (digital TV receiver) in 8GB.
http://www.gseshop.co.kr/prd/prd.gs?prdid=3742357 (value = 150EUR)
I am not Korean, but a corean friend can help me with the purchase.

I am confused.
So, in the end, some videos (video formats) do have to be converted to some S9-compatible format, huh? Okay, no player is perfect. But what about the *.FLV-video clips from YouTube.com? Are those played from within the FLASH-button (S9 main GUI button)? In any case, do i have to convert the original downloaded *.FLV-files to, e.g. *.WMV?

(Maybe someone could post a list of all supported formats (incl. range of resolution, frame rate, etc.) WITHOUT prior conversion?)

Thanks to all S9 enthusiasts!

S9's specs page: http://www.cowonamerica.com/products...ech_specs.html

And .FLV's have to be converted.

Video codec 1Xvid SP/ASP, WMV 7/8/9 SP/MP, DivX 3/4/5 Video resolution480x272, 30 fps (recommended) Audio codecMPEG1 Layer 1/2/3, WMA

So... what if i have a 320x240 video with 25 fps, for example?
Would it run without problems? Or do i really have to convert it to the new frame size 480 x 272 and "upgrade" to 30 fps?

no. resolutions can go up to supposedly 720 by 400 or something like that. you can drag and drop most videos.

btw, i watch videos that are 320 by 240 all the time :P

It would play just fine, as I do it at times (when I get something from a friend, and that's what they have).

thanks for the answers.

oops. i have been realizing that i dont need a Super-mp3-Player, once i own a standard "Asian cell phone". All current cell phones (in China, Japan, Korea) have digital TV (DMB) (even the Samsung P2, re-release in 2008), plus Bluetooth, Wifi (i mean.. wlan or mobile internet), camera (video/foto), touchscreen, audioplayer, videoplayer, calculator, dictionaries, flashplayer (and realplayer), and above all: GPS navigation (for drivers/walkers). and light. etc. etc.
In Europe we call them 'smartphones' (although in Europe, the smartphones are not equipped with digitalTV (DMB)).

The cowon d2+ dmb is way cool. The cowon s9 dmb is even cooler.
But whenever i meet my friends with their (old/new) smartphones (e.g. by SHARP, HTC, NOKIA, etc.), i feel like ...

If what your friends have makes you feel like ... , then you need to re-think your priorities. At best, a new white S9 for you will only be a temporary "fix". There is an underlying problem that will resurface as soon as the next-best-thing comes out, and you see someone else with one.

I agree, as you don't want a DAP/PMP, you want a convergence device. A smartphone (we have them in the US as well, like my BlackBerry Storm) is good for quite a few things, but they're not exactly known for their SQ. The video quality is quite amazing I must admit though, like on the new Samsung phones. The major drawback is the 99% of the time crappy battery life, regardless of how "cool" the phone is.

And next month, you'll want the next "cool" smartphone to hit the shops. Good luck w/that.

What if I want to play videos out to TV.
Can I use 720x480 resolution and up to 3000kbps bitrate?

If not then what is the max resolution and bitrate I can use for video out for
divx, xvid, and mpeg4.

Default trying to figure this out

Looking at the s9, and wondering which video files are actually ok on it. In the compare database, it says it will do mpeg4 video, but it doesnt say that in the review.

The two types of videos I would mainly watch are:
.wmv at 800x450
.mp4 at 1280x720

I have the Cowon O2 now, and really enjoy the drag and drop with pretty much everything. Are these ok, or will i convert?
