It's the features (or lack thereof) that suck, not the security. Not to mention, it's not about someone actively hacking the browser for proof-of-concept, but people clicking on crap that enables bad things. IE supports ActiveX, that's bad enough.

IE9 will be a good browser but until then i recommend google chrome or opera as they are far less used ( meaning less targeted) and are also a lot faster than most if not all browsers ( especially ie).
