A famous Hollywood line from the black and white 50`s once proclaimed `Just cause you love somethin don`t mean it has to love you back`. Amen to that.
My dear departed YP-Z5 has just sunk the knife in - destroying my love affair with it after a rapturous twelve months of great music. Now it remains jammed on the Welcome screen and will go no further. Connecting to a PC shows no recognition, with its clock frozen at 11.17pm when it breathed its last. But why? And if not mine to reason why, then how to fix the goddam thing? One possible explanation is my charging it through a plug-in USB port - the el cheapo kind that cost a scant handful of dollars while claiming the usual USB 5volts from an AC 110 to 240 input. I have another one that charges from my Ford`s cigarette lighter slot. My PC and laptop both used to recognise it - but suddenly and ominously no longer. I have slipped on a black armband and fear the worst. It`s form perfect for an afterlife as a small paperweight, but I do miss my music. So, any helpful hints from hugely-brained experts will be most welcome. |

Sorry no idea on how to fix. But I guess it's time to move up to a Sansa Clip.

Yeah, guess you`re right about giving it the deep six and moving on. I checked out the Salsa and they look good.
But my confidence on the longevity of these things has been shaken by my Samsung`s sudden fall off the perch, so I`m thinking more about just a music player for MP3 and WMA files and bugger the extra frills. So, keeping the list simple - and hopefully keeping an upper limit to around forty bucks - does anyone have any ideas about a small music player with good audio quality - and perhaps able to be played through a car audio speakers? |

Sansa Clip is worse than Sammy Z5. In SQ, battery life and much more

I play the Clip and the Z5 thru car speakers in exactly the same manner, off the headphone port. Difference between the two? Well I like the Clip better. It turns on much quicker than the Z5 when it hasn't been used for a day or two. I think the battery on the Clip lasts longer but haven't done any serious studies. I think the Clip sounds better but not by much; however, I am not a serious student of SQ (ie I got crappy ears). Both do playlists. The Clip attaches easily to my shirt, the Z5 doesn't. The 2GB Clip comes in red or blue. Steve |
