Help organizing my D2 mp3 files cause they are getting mixed up

Im having probs with my D2 mixing up tracks. Mainly on live shows this is a problem. I renamed the tracks 1, 2,3 so on so on... But when I unplug from my comp it scrambles them all up. Ex... I downloaded a Phish show and it originally had the tracks split up in 2 cds so cd 1 had 1-10 and cd 2 had 1-6. I combined into 1 folder and renamed the tracks 1,2,3,4...but when i unplug from the comp it keeps the original track labels so the player has 2 songs labeled 1, 2 songs labeled 2, so on and this is making the show out of order and not flow obviously. How do I fix this? Also I cant make a random songs folder cause it seperates the artists and albums. Is their nothing I can do to fix that and just suck it up or what? Thanks!

you're renaming the files, not the tags, get MP3tag and retag your files. you can get mp3 tag here http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

ID3 tags are embedded info in the files themselves, a simple rename won't change it
