I don't see any Gapless support, and mine would already play WMA, FLAC, and WAV lossless files. With a .01 update I guess I don't expect much.

Warhawk on iaudioplhile confirmed gapless playback for FLAC and other lossless formats. No gapless for mp3 though and I haven't tried it myself since I don't have any FLAC files.

gaepriseu should be translated to gapless I guess.

I can confirm that also - my sole FLAC album is definitely gapless. Since its a minor release I am going to assume mp3 gapless will be coming.

Though list of BT improvements makes no sense as its not any better than it was before - I was hoping for frame-rate improvements.

Yep, FLAC does gapless. I had to go back and convert my Unplugged CD to FLAC to be sure, and it works perfectly. The MP3 version still has a (very) short gap between tracks. WMA lossless also plays gapless.

I'll bet it's the extra processing that they have to do with MP3s (expand/decode) that is still their technical challenge.

BTW, does Cowon state anywhere officially that this update does "gapless"? I see "lossless" all over the linked site, but nothing that resembles "gapless".

Hmm, I was contemplating a repurchase of the S9 since it does 2 things that I really love: gapless & playlists. The only prob w/the equation is that gapless is for lossless ONLY. I'll wait and see if it does come, then might rejoin the family.

And, before I'm inundated w/questions of why I really returned the S9, it had NOTHING to do w/the performance. That's why I always say what a spectacular player it is, because it's FANTASTIC!!! I had a health issue and had to pool my resources. The crisis has somewhat passed, and I've the cheddar to rebuy my baby.

Now, just give me mp3 gapless (V~0 by the way) and the Zune HD just may have to wait till 2010.

To get m3u playlists working:

1 - Turn off User Settings -> Browser -> MSC Playlists ... its not compatible with m3u support.
2 - The m3u files will be listed under Playlists.
3 - There are several m3u formats. One works (Extended m3u) and one does not (Simple m3u). For example,

does it handle sub folder pathing of the music folder or is it a global listing of the root music folder in m3u playlist.

LAME 3.97 -v0 = not gapless
Vorbis aoTuV b5.5 -q6 = not gapless
WAV PCM 44/16 = gapless

There some song that have like 1-5 second of silent at the end. How do i fix this? doesn't gapless suppose to cut these extra bit and play the next song?

Not necessarily, blackconan - gapless playback doesn't mean it cuts out silence from the beginning/end of a track, merely that it won't add any silence. If your files have gaps when played on your computer (if you're using a program that doesn't add gaps, of course) it'll retain those in gapless playback.

Since i play the same single with mediamonkey. Media Monkey cut out like the last 5 sec of a song and play the next. S9 doesnt do this. The single is in FLAC. Is there anyway to fix without cutting the end of the song manually?

If it should be a seamless transition between the tracks, but there's a 5 second gap, then the CD hasn't been ripped properly. Re-rip it with EAC, CDex, or some other trustworthy ripper.
