Need help, songs dont appear and updater doesn't install.

I pluged in my Sansa Fuze into my Ubuntu 9.04 so I could add some more songs to it. When I got to the folder it said i didn't have any music in my mp3. So i started looking around the web to find out why. I've come to the conclusion that the mp3 and the Ubuntu aren't compatible so i downloaded the firmware updater but it doesn't install. I've tried Wine and Crossover. I am new to Linux (started less than a week ago).

Make sure that your fuze is set for msc mode before you plug it in, it's in the settings.

I switched it to MSC mode but when I open the SANSA Fuze folder it doesnt show my music, videos, and pictures. I even checked for hidden folders.
Am I doing something wrong?

If I'm not mistaken, data added in MTP isn't shown when the player is in MSC, and vice-versa.

I added my music when it was set to auto detect, so should i put it on auto detect?

I've heard that the autodetect on some players can be buggy?. If I was you first decide what USB MODE your going to use, then set it and leave it at that setting without using the autodetect at all.

Since you loaded your music the first time when your player was set to autodetect you don't really know if it was in MSC/MTP mode correct..?. What you should do now is take all your music off your player again, set it to the desired USB MODE then load back all the music onto your player...ie: using the correct method governed by what USB MODE your now using.

MSC MODE = Drag'n Drop
MPT MODE = Syncing music between computer and player with subscription service...ie: Napster, Rhapsody, etc.

Even though it was on auto detec, it probably loaded your music in mtp and that's why you can't see it connected in msc. Don't forget to delete it and reload everything with your new selected method.
