Siren MP3 player not found.....!?

I just received a Siren Edge 4GB MP3 player for my birthday and am having a hard time with it. I am trying to download audio books from my pc onto my Siren.

I have connected it to my computer and turned it on and the Siren screen says USB connected. The computer recognizes that it is connected but the books won't download onto the player. I then tried to erase the songs that came on the player off of it and so I cleared them out so it is empty to make room for the audio books. I then tried to transfer the books from the Overdrive Media Console to my Siren and it comes up with an error message that says "unable to transfer the selected title because [Insert] returned 0xC00D2772". I have tried to contact the manufacturer but they have not emailed me back and have tried the www.sirenplayer.com website but that link doesn't actually take me anywhere but to another search engine that suggests other sites that do not help. Somewhere along the line I got the idea (I think from another post somewhere else about Siren MP3 players) that it needed a firmware update but I don't really know what is wrong with it or if that is the problem.

I have no idea what any of that means but it is very frusterating since I am new at this whole mp3 thing. Can anyone help?
