I had a few non working clips lying around so I swapped out a few parts. The case is a bit difficult to get apart without causing damage. If you are going to do something like this mind where the latches are that keep the two sides together. Note that we have found small amounts of glue on some of the clips.

I think the blue or red would have looked better than the pink

Hmmm.....black Clip with blue "wheel" and red center button.
Black Clip with silver "wheel" and blue center button. Blue Clip with silver "wheel" and black center button. The possibilities....... |

Come to think of it, you could mix and match case halves. |

Sandisk really should produce the 4gb and 8gb clips in more/better colors.
I now have a red 2GB with black buttons.

Nice work! I am thinking about swapping the insides of an 8gb into a light pink shell for my gf... Anything I should watch out for? What's the tool of choice for getting the shell apart? Razor blade? Plastic tools? And what point do you start the case opening from?

That's a pretty cool idea and it looks great. I'd like to do that with my red Clip and my husband's black one, but he won't let me

Hey just a quick note of thanks for the tips on cracking open the clip! My disassembly of the donor clip (8gb black) didn't go perfectly, but well enough to put back together seamlessly and still tight!
My second try on the recipient clip (gf's 2gb pink) went flawlessly with no broken tabs, etc. She's now got a pretty little 8gb player, and I have a clean, black 2gb spare for wearing while gardening, running, etc. Plastic pry tools from ebay made the work cosmetically clean, so I couldn't be happier, or more appreciative of the tips! Cheers! |
