@ James09; not really where i live live, but i study a year in Tromso in Norway now. And thx for the compliment!

@ dfkt; I really like the pictures and your style. Are they edited / how are they edited and is there like a step-by-step manual?

Cheers, Walkgood and Disguise. Yeah, they're heavily edited in ACR and CS5. I wanted to bring the grit/dirt and desolation out, for maximum effect.

I used a neutral white balance (not slightly warm-ish as I usually would do), turned fill light and black levels way up for heavy grain and contrast, turned vivid way down to remove superfluous colors and get that partial B/W look, fully removed blue/purple/magenta colors (I don't like those colors anyways, and they were distracting for these subjects), enhanced orange/yellow/green, tweaked tone balance levels and curves to my liking, and used PTLens correction for an even more static look.

Original and edit:

Some more from Occupy Boston, of camp 2, hours prior to it being raided by Boston PD resulting in nearly 150 arrests:

I'm really enjoying shooting at this event. Lots of colorful and interesting people with lots of different messages, and even though I don't agree with some of what they have to say I am enjoying being there quite a bit.

DFKT Such a sad place but still very interesting! Wondering why things were just left as they were? Like the paints and coloring book, seems like whoever was there left in a rush! I wonder what stories the ghosts do tell?

Great photos everyone. I try to look at this thread everyday. Wish I had the talent or patients to learn photoshop/gimp or whatever.

Went to the pumpkin patch with my little one this weekend. It is his first Halloween and he seemed to have lots of fun there. He seemed blown away by all the orange pumpkins everywhere.

Dont ask me what the hell is on his head, that is my wife's doing, not mine. Pick your battles is what you learn after getting married though.

I wish I could figure out how to take some of the orange reflection out of his face with gimp or whatever. Any tips?

Out on my usual bike ride down the New River this morning and I ran across the Canadian tugboat "Theodore Too," so I had to stop and snap a few pictures for Adub

This place has been quiet lately. Good stuff Walkgood! Have you ever gone in with the manatees? They look friendly.

It's been a long time since I went in the back country rivers, they're a little polluted but I use to swim with them a lot as a kid. We'd ride them by holding onto their back, they're a lot faster than they look as they're very powerful like a baby whale. Guess I'll have to give it a go again and have someone take pics, but the last shots I've taken of them, I'm the only one around ... timer would be a bit tricky
