Went to Providence, RI the other day and picked up another lens from a local shop, the EF 35mm F2.0. This might be my favorite lens that I've used.....It's very fun and everything seems to come out nice. Here are a few, more to come though as I was all over the city (Just a 2-3 mile walk in Providence and you will see about four vastly different areas/neighborhoods, which I love).

Still have a bunch of stuff to edit.....State house, College Hill, etc. Definitely one of my favorite cities.

not sure if I can post this in this thread, but could you guys point out a complete photography noob to some decent starter equipment- budget ~$1500 to $2000?

Canon 60D body, EF-S 15-85, 35mm F2.0 would be some good all around stuff, but what specifically are you going to be shooting?

T3i/600D is essentially the same body as the 60D with the exception of less direct/convenient access to settings and in my opinion less comfortable handling, which is a big factor to me, as most of my shooting is done off the tripod just walking around (although some people would probably prefer the lighter weight and less bulk of the T3i instead of the more comfortable grip). In your case where you will be doing studio stuff, probably on a tripod or rail, handling probably wouldn't be as important to you. The 60D also has a better AF system, but again since you'll be doing studio stuff you will likely only use center point and maybe fine tune by hand. Differences in needs.

I'd also consider the Pentax K5, which has a wonderful image quality and still being quite portable. Pentax has some nice lenses, too.
The Limited primes are outstanding, but even the zoom lenses are good.

i'll mostly be shooting outdoors as i travel quite a lot (usually 2-3 countries a year, dont ask :P) but i'd really like to get something that's a bit versatile and would allow me to shoot indoors as well

edit: anyone got any opinions on this particular Sony? Seems portable enough but i don't really mind going full size either.. thanks for the replies freddie, ollil and psh, much appreciated

Ok, you guys are taking real photos and honestly I feel bad for sharing mine as if Im some kind of photographer. Im mostly using auto settings and auto focus lol. I am going to learn, Ive just found its a slow process for someone with a busy life. Anyhow, I goofed around in GIMP with a picture I took of my son who is 6 months old now. I had no lighting at all, high ISO so obviously the pic is noisy and you can obviously see I sat him in a box with a seam lol. So in other words, Im not trying to show off any photography skills, just showing off my son :-)

Oh, and the Dirquist Studios thing was just a joke lol.

I was taking pictures of flowers rather than the dog, but just turned the camera around to see her staring out the window and thought it was deserving of a shot

Great pic gebal. I love the backgound being dark on one side with the light on the other and the detail on the dog is fabulous. Great collar also! Seriously wondering where you found it.
