Thanks, that's a 2.35 cinemascope crop - makes for a nice panoramic touch.

We had an awesome purple lightning storm.....of course by the time I decide I want to take pics of it and set my tripod up it's gone. So here's a pic of a tree. White streaks are rain drops.

30 second exposures are boring, so I played around with my S90 while waiting

I also took a pic of a chainsaw after I realized the lightning wasn't coming back.

Two days in a row off with nice weather meant two days of shooting (and two days of falling into snow banks/almost getting hit by cars). I mainly was practicing metering/exposure comp/how the CPL affects exposure, and I had some sunsets with nice clouds but awkward lighting, so it was kind of challenging. My hope is that I'll know the camera fairly well by spring when I'll be shooting constantly. Also, I'm in the process of building a new computer as my current 6 year old machine does not appreciate CS5 with ~25mb raw files.

Lots to edit, more to come:

I wish would be this courageous during the day. I carry my camera with me always but I often pass up a good picture because I feel... shy. It's stupid.

Really like that second shot. Either the bird is used to people or you must have a monster of a zoom lens.

tks, no zoom on my digital yet :/ I walked up really slow pretending to look away. Also they might be use to people as these are the baby night herons I posted last year which have now matured and they've returned to the tree they were born in. This was taken during low tide around 70 feet from their tree, hoping they come to nest soon.

James, I love that second one. Are you processing them yourself or doing it at a minilab (think I saw you added a couple to a C41 group)?

James, I wonder if you removed the color hues from your XP2 pics, or if yours are just better processed than mine. Back in the days I mainly used XP2, and - depending on who I gave it to for C41 processing and paper prints - the photos always had either a green-ish or sepia/orange-ish hue (or both), they never were 'true' B/W.

Everything from our lab has a greenish/grayish tint. I've seen maybe 3 good rolls come out of our machine.

I did do some B&W positives (think it was a positive strip, it was backwards when i ran it as a neg but worked fine as a pos) that the lady developed herself in the 70s on to matte paper that came out really good though.
