Formating a Sansa View

I know this will probably sound like a stupid question, but if I format my Sansa View through the computer, do I need to drag firmware files or something to it afterwards or will it just load up fine again. I'm assuming I don't but I haven't been able to find out definitively. Every time I try to format it through the View, it either freezes, or restarts, formatted, but without refreshing the database.
