An admin over at the Sandisk Sansa Forums just said that it passed QA this weekend that the new firmware should be out early this week.

I think the only definite is the database will accept 8,000 file max, it has been 4,000.

An 8,000 file limit is a step in the right direction If they give us gapless and file/folder the Fuze would be the perfect player. Thanks to Sandisk for their continued support of the Fuze.

Check the Sansa forums, since the admin over there stated a new FW release is coming in a few days.

They did say gapless would not be in this particular update, but they didn't say it would never appear. They have mentioned "looking into" file/folder browsing, but they haven't said exactly when we could see it.

Those are two of the most common requests, so I am glad they at least acknowledged that they know people want them.

Yes, we want gapless... fans of classical music and live recordings everywhere, unite!

So is it actually out today, or is that later this week? Can't check it from work

It hasn't shown up yet today, but the Clip update recently came in about 15:00......Here's the official response-
"The next firmware release passed QA this weekend and it will likely be posted early this week. Forum Admin"

P.S. Is it lunch hour or are you slacking off on the job, young lady?

Neither. We actually get breaks in this callcenter...

But they ever said that we don't need Rockbox anymore after this future FW release. Does it mean the gapless also will be in this paricular update?

No, it doesn't. They specifically said gapless will not be in this release. The only possible explanation for the ill-advised RB comment is maybe the file/folder browsing will make this release.

I would love to be able to add whole albums to the Go-list, instead of going through song by song, just to be able to listen to both parts of Live After Death on one playlist... The short gaps between the songs are bad enough.

You already can add whole albums to the GoList....up to 200 songs worth In the case of Live After Death you might have to do CD1, then CD2, but you can do that.

I know, I did.

What annoys me is that it will not let me add the entire album to it in one go. I have to go to the track list and start with adding the Intro, then add Aces High, then add 2 Minutes To Midnight, et cetera. Then I go to CD2 and add all the tracks there. I want to be able to go to CD1 -> "Add Album to GoList". Make sense?

Yeah, there's no way the Sansa firmware will be a proper match for Rockbox until it has -- in addition to gapless playback and folder browsing -- robust on-the-fly playlisting with add-to, remove-from, rearrange, save, re-edit, and rename capabilities.
