Default D2 died bought a zen to replace it... My experiances shared

D2 died 2 months ago due to multiple system failure of the touch screen and the internal memory problems because i dropped it from a bike on to the road. Thankfully at that time i taught no cracks, woot my D2 is saved but after turning it on the screen did not respond at all. I tried reinstalling the firmware but no that did not work.

I tried putting some data on the internal memory "Trying to use the d2 as a big arse pen drive" and i got I/O error again and again. It stopped charging and when the battery died the player died along with it.

I did not have enough green to get a 8gb D2 so i bought a 4gb Zen instead. At first the sound was so so synthetic.... Turing off EQ helped but the biggest thing to kill was the bass boost system "It is really noting compared to the Cowon bass system or even sony for that matter"

After that i used the EQ to get that D2 feel into the music and it just about worked. I am happy with the performance of my ex85's but it goes to hell when you put in the bose headphones, sound become o so tiny.

If i had the money i would have bought the D2 in a wink but the zen is not that bad either. There are lot of problems with the player but as long as i can make the sound like the d2 valina i am happy.

Is the D2 still under warranty? Couldn't you send it back for repair?

I kind of doubt "I dropped it" will qualify under a warranty repair.

They'll probably still offer full repair at not-full-price. Might be worth it

Warranties usually don't cover accidents. Kinda like how if you get in an accident with your car, you have to use your insurance to repair the damages, and not the car warranty. However, it might be worth asking Cowon anyway --- maybe they'll be nice and repair it for you.

a fuckwit at customer service Creative USA told me to look for an accessory i wanted on ebay as they've discontinued it. real helpful lot they are.

- new company policy line?
we dont have it - go look on ebay?

What is wrong with suggesting eBay?

Exactly what do you want the person at Creative to do, asmd? The accessory you want is discontinued, perhaps you should have bought one earlier.

It sounds like you have 2 choices: live without the accessory or find it somewhere else.

i may have been a little harsh with my comment. but i stand by it.

the remote i owned malfunctioned, and i called creative for a new one, whereby i was prompted to look for it on "ebay".

as "helpful" as that was, it was wrong for the csr to point me there.
buying from third parties/unofficial channels comes with no warranties and if my creative unit were to be damaged by the remote (or something similar), wheres the liability then?

do i sue creative or the csr for telling ME to purchase and use an unauthorized accessory?

the appropriate answer from the csr should have been - tough cookies, its been discontinued, can i help you with anything else?, NOT, yeah, you can look for it on ebay.

this applies to anything. would you expect a volvo csr to tell you to look for a car part on ebay? same thing.

and you are absolutely right, its my perogative to either live with it or find it elsewhere. not be told by a creative rep to find it elsewhere.

most of the remotes available on ebay are cheaply made knockoffs that dont work right. http:

but thats beside the point.
