Just seein' everyone's opinion.
For me, it might be "The Thing." Older movie, a little cheesy, but is still freakin' scary! O, and no "it's soo bad it's scary." movies. Save that for a worst movie ever thread. |

I dont know, havn't really seen any good scary movies latly... I supose anything with loud flashy scream sequences and the sort can be considerd scary, but only for the first time or so when they catch you by suprise.
Although I do remember the movie Signs having a sort of scary effect to it. Mainly the "home recorded" footage of the alien walking past the kids birthday party bit. I dont know why, maybe because you rarely hear kids screaming like that or somthing :P |

For creepiest movie, I'd nominate the animated file "Pinocchio and the Emperor Of The Night." Although it features the same characters, it is not related to Disney's "Pinocchio" It released by Filmation (the same company responsible for "He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe") in 1987.
There is one scene in the movie that extremely creepy and chilling, a scene involving a puppet master who forceably transforms Pinocchio back into a puppet. The way the scene slowly plays out is chilling to the bone.

When I was kid a British movie called "The Day of The Triffids" was pretty scary. Also so was the original "The Blob" with Steve McQueen. One part in The Blob that was scary when we were all in the kiddie matinee was the part when it comes into a movie theater and suddenly the projection booth quite and it comes oozing through the openings for the projector beam into the audience.
So what do us kids do at that part? We look back at the projection booth. LOL

For me, it's Jacob's Ladder and Psycho (Not the remake but the original movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock.)
As for Jacob's Ladder, you just have to see this. There are scenes that are so creepy you might never get them out of your mind. And how can anyone forget the shower scene in Psycho?

Not a big horror movie fan, only have the balls to watch them with at least another person! :P
Scariest while watching: Grudge, Exorcist, Exorcism of Emily Rose Film that I couldn't get out of my head for a long time (especially in the bathroom): Psycho Three scariest scenes: The Shower scene from Psycho That thing walking down the stairs in the Exorcist The Church scene from Emily Rose And the girl climbing the well in the Ring 2 (Otherwise crappy movie) |

Grudge was pretty freaky, I'll have to check out Psycho now that at least 2 people have recommended it. Who thought the Saw movies were scary?

John Carpenter's The Thing. (1982) I assume the earlier post referred to this movie, and not the 1951 original, which is a fairly typical 1950's sci-fi/horror flick.
If you haven't seen this movie, you must. It truly is a masterpiece, particularly since they didn't have a big budget. I don't know where they got/who trained the dog Jed in the first part of the movie, but it should have won an award. It just has this incredibly creepy intelligent look. |

Yea I was talking about the '82 version. Dude, if they came out with a modern version of that... well, it might not be quite as scary 'cause the poor-ish sound quality of the '82 make just made it sink in more. If they modernized it it might turn out like "The Haunting In Conneticut" or something like that.

I'm torn. It could be really good, and it could be really bad. I don't think there's much middle ground. At least it's not a sequel, but a prequel instead. |

Creep is very scary. Much scarier than the 2 films I've seen recently, 30 Days of Night and The Hills Have Eyes, which aren't scary at all. Saw isn't scary, but disturbing, especially when the guy saws off his leg.

I saw Poltergeist when I was a kid, I went with a friend to the movie theater. That movie freaked me out so bad I wanted to sleep in the same room as my mom. Who got mad at me and made me go back to my room. The Friday the 13th movies I like to watch, freak me out some too later on. I hate being alone in my house, and I sometimes have nightmares about being chased by Jason.

Recently saw See No Evil and The Descent. The Descent wasn't bad scary, but I'm not going to go caving anytime soon.
See No Evil was a cool movie. Reccomend it to all those who like Saw. |

I saw the movie, and I found it an okay movie but not great. From what I've read, the movie was far different from the original comic book source (I'm not really a Marvel fan, I prefer DC Comics).
