Default Can it be modded for a memory upgrade?

Hi, new member here. I've been reading up on many-a DAP's and PMP's, but the S9 seems to be my favorite so far.

The only (but critical, for me anyways) drawback is the limited 16gig memory. Strictly as a music player, that would be enough, but the screen just begs to be shown off, and for both music AND video... 16 gigs just aint enough.

So I was wondering if any tech-savvy users out there think that it's possible to swap the 16 gig chips for say... 32 GB, or hell... even 64 GB chips? I know it might be a bit of a stretch (both technically and legally), but I'm just curious if it's feasible. Sorry Cowon, but the wait for a larger capacity S9 is just killing me.

You could also simply wait for the 32GB S9 to be released soon... what's a month or two in the grand scheme of things?

I agree with dfkt, you should wait a bit more for the official one... that change is dangerous for your device, and if the S9 don't start up anymore?
It's not about the flash memory only, it's about with the programation, the firmware and etc.(correct me if i'm wrong)

That depends on getting a suitable upgrade source.

It is not illegal, that a hardware mod. you void the warranty on it though, considering how new it is.

I was planning an upgrade tutorial on say a 8GB flash player to a 32GB or 16GB flash, but that requires some advance skills not a whole lot of people have.

I already pegged a few sources for the said upgrade.

I agree completely! I want to buy into one of their products, but when they continuously dance around any set date? As a consumer I can't help but get a bit impatient. I'm just anxious to ditch my ancient monochrome LED screen player.

i just want to switch from my a3 which im sending back for warranty repairs again, because it stopped charging and prior to it stopping charging it stopped holding a charge, as well as my speakers just stopped working on it one day.

So i desperately want to grab a cowon s9 but 16gb is a waste of time

I just checked Cowan's web site and in the tech specs it doesn't even list 32gb as an option. I can't understand why it is so difficult to add flash memory, or to just give us an SD card slot.

Finding a supplier for 32GB chips is one reason, getting past the FCC is about 6 months to 1 year thats another reason.

Your complaining about something that you have no control over when it comes out. If it was something software or firmware, your complaint would be more practical since you have more options to a solution like hacking, updating, or tweaking settings.

Putting something up that isn't ok'ed by the FCC (USA standards) and/or not in production is BAD PR for a company.
