Low Volume & Update firmware without Sandisk Updater

Hello guys, my first post here

purchased today a sandisk sansa view, i really like it, the only thing is its volume, not very loud... i've read this might be because of the firmware (the F (french?) one)

so i thought i might install another version... does this make sense?
Would it work?

And finally, how to install the update without using the sansa updater?

I've searched in the forum but couldnt find an answer

First, you posted this in the Sansa General section. You would be better off in the Sansa View section where there is a sub-forum on firmware. The following thread should help you with both questions.
