it has a 500mhz dual core processer. as for the ram not sure.

i doubt it'll do hd video, the o2 which is more of video player has trouble playing hd videos.

Is there are file limit on the S9 like there is on the D2? And if so, anyone know exactly what that limit is?

I want to get a 32gb S9 but I have my music in Ogg Vorbis at 128 kbps, which means I can fit a lot of files on there. And if there's a limit, I'm getting a Samsung P3 instead.

@Olley, the darkside is kind of right, i don't work for cowon...and those questions are hard to answer...but lucky for you i do happen to know some of your Q's
1) the next firmware update may be in march, it might get moved to april or later...

So in what capacity are you getting this 'information'? Are you just an interested user? It's always nice to have someone doing what they can to help peeps on here, but it appears your answer above was complete guesswork, as firmware 2.08 is out now. crap, im really sorry. i thought i was looking for when 2.09 came out. not 2.08. i assumed most people knew that 2.08 was coming out within the month...

and yeah, i am just a really interested user...but i do have sources...and sometimes they are wrong. but this was my mistake, not theirs.

So if 2.08 was not expected but 2.09 was, yet these are both minor updates (.01ish), can you predict when 3.anything will first show up? I'd love to see a major update that puts some more utilities on the S9.

2. Is the UI laggy?

3. Do I have to go through a bunch of button taps to get back to a certain menu?

4. How are the tactile buttons? Do they feel cheap?

1. The build quality, in my opinion, is very nice. it looks like it feels heavy, but is surprisingly light. i know people have said that it feels "cheap" i don't think so at all, i think it feels very durable.

2. the UI can be laggy sometimes, every different s9 has it's own little bugs. occasionally when you press a button nothing will happen. but other than that and coverflow, which is laggy, it's pretty good.

3. uhmm, it can get a bit confusing, but once you know what you're doing it's fine... i can get back to the main menu pretty damn quick. and you can always hold down the pause/play tactile button on the top to jump from whereever you are to the main menu.

4. the tactile buttons feel very nice. they're in good locations...

bottom line, you have to get used to it for a bit, and if you take care of it, it should do just fine

Hey thanks! That's one little feature I must have skipped over. Now if they could just allow an on-screen button to do the same when held down for a bit.

hmm, so how do you do that? right now, my S9 only plays the album i'm listening to and doesn't go beyond. i know i can add all my songs to my favorite list, but thats a little bit fiddly =/

Go into the music app, then hit the menu button top left. Then hit the back arrow at the bottom a couple times until you can't anymore. You should see [Folder], [Artist]. [Albums], [Songs], etc. Pick [Songs]. Then pick a song from your list. On the now playing screen, at the bottom menu there is a row of icons (you may have to flip the menu). The second from left will pop up your shuffle options. Tap center icon until you see two bars crossing. That should do it.

ah thanks for the info. I was scared for a moment since i was over at iaudiophile.net's forum, and i saw someone write that the S9 didn't have shuffle function. That would have been extremely out of place and off-putting, but YAY!

Is there a way to calibrate the touch screen? or make it more sensitive or less sensitive? or disable the double click to execute?

After reading through the specs of S9, I can't help but wonder the following...

1. Given a considerable screen size of 3.3 inch and using OLED, why don't it support more video codecs? Isn't this abit of waste just to support XviD and WMV9 only?

2. Is this more treated as a MP3 player rather than a PMP?

3. Is it possible that will Cowon add in more video codecs (e.g. H.264) support via firmware upgrades in the future? Does this kind of situation happened in predecessor Cowon players before?
