Yes, but try and see if it works. If it doesn't work then it's the musics' tag problem. (I only know this based on the Chinese titles...)

Hey guys! Should I take off the plastic covering on my S9 screen?
I know the screen is virtually scratch resistant, but I'm just wondering if I might benefit from leaving it on there [laugh]

lol, virtually scratch resistant? I could show you pics of mine and you'd wet your pants. It most definitely WILL scratch. But at the same time, the stock plastic on the screen wont hold up for very long so its pretty much a waste of time, pull it off.

How the heck did you scratch the S9's screen haha... Other than sand and diamonds I don't see how that's possible lol.
A key or knife won't even scratch these screens with moderate force. (I'm not questioning if your's does indeed have a scratch just saying)

It all comes down to science, and the hardness of objects. I believe there has been an article about it on the front page. Take your knife or key to a normal glass window and you can't scratch it either. But quartz sand is harder than glass, thus scratching it. I live in a sandy area and keep my S9 in my pocket at all times without a screen protector.
You can clearly see the scratches, you can also see a bit of sand thats under the gorilla glass, and some of the white specks are probably paint, as I sometimes paint houses for work. ![]()

Hi! I wonder if you can help me. I can't seem to find out exactly what format the line-in input uses to record. You can select '256KHZ' but is that MP3 or what?
I want to make binaural field recordings by plugging a good mic pre-amp into the line input. I have been using an old mini-disc recorder and the results have been excellent but mini-disc has numerous drawbacks. Since I always have the Cowon on me it would be great to use it as a recorder. I remember years ago someone saying that mini-discs used a very good compression system, but I don't know the details. I am a bit worried that the S9 recordings won't be as high quality. Anyone know the answer to this one? I am planning to make my own pre-amp using designs on the web (good commercial ones cost a fortune), so it's a lot of work wasted if the results are worst than the mini-disc. |

The S9 records in crappy WMA junk, unfortunately, not MP3. The quality might be similar to ATRAC (the compression MiniDisc uses), but the signal path might be inferior.
MP3 players are generally not that suited for more serious recording tasks, at least current ones. Some older ones are better in that aspect. For serious stuff a semi-professional recorder from Edirol, M-Audio, Sony, etc would give far better versatility and results.

can anyone help me?
i dropped my s9 on the floor. the screen cracked but it's still working. i can still access the files and listen to the music with it. but since i got it from overseas, the warranty is voided. so is it possible to send it back to them and have the screen replaced? i don't mind paying to get the screen replaced. thanks. |
