Default 2souldesign games for s9

Hey everyone,

I'm not sure if this counts as a direct advertisement, but i'm santoki, also creator of sketchlite series from 2souldesign and would like to say an official "hello."

I just recently purchased a cowon s9 and it's pretty much one of the best platforms to develop flash games for, so we decided on making a huge project devoted to the Cowon s9.

Currently the game is going through its alpha stages currently known as "Shadow Kai" although you can't play the game as of now, we've made a little sneakpeak trailer you can see to kinda get a feel for how the game play will be.

Here is a youtube link:

You can always find out more about this project at our new website at: www.2souldesign.net

I'm trying my best to migrate our old website to this new site, so there might be some delays in terms of new, but we'll do our best to update each week with some new builds for this game.

Hope you'll enjoy
Santoki

haha thanks for your enthusiasm. I'll continue updating this post. Since my university classes will begin next week, I will be limited into updating the game only on weekends. Nevertheless, no days are better than 3 days

a lot of it is still being programmed - not really enough to be warranted a post. However, if I get past a milestone - I'll definitely bump up a post

Right now I'm trying to experiment with different attacks. eg: bowman's ranged attack versus a warrior's melee damage.

Question to all: should the bowman do more damage pointblank, far, or same same damage?

point blank? id think its reasonable for the bowman to do more damage if hes closer to an enemy yeah?

Nice, I'd love to test it out whenever it gets far enough along.

Yeah point blank makes sense as your most likely to hit your target where you want(thinking realisticly) Opens up the problem for the player where they have to weigh up the advantages of accuracy/strength vs distance(health, chance of attack of own player) Having sweet spot distances where to close and to far reduces damage makes it to hard to think about without an explaination. People want to go into a situation and think about it in real life terms and come to their own conclusions as to the best method of fighting. It gives them more satisfaction in their abilities and also keeps the game flowing better by not needing some sort of explaination but rather just let the player try stuff out.

Thanks for the suggestions! I was leaning towards point blank as well.

You posed an interesting concept of accuracy vs strength. I'll try working out some sort of algorithm that'll take those two variables into account - maybe a critical hit (one that never misses and does max damage).

hmmm i also thought it in another way.. if the bowman shoots from a nearer range, he is more susceptible to damage, so he would prefer shooting from far..

to be honest, I haven't been able to make any progress for a few weeks because of a new client. I'll be able to work on it this weekend and probably post a new update officially. Maybe even a tutorial...
