Hi All,
I've just bought a Sony S639 - and on the whole, I'm very pleased with it... However, it has a couple of niggles - when syncing on WMP11, it often locks up. And some of the audio tracks have bad glitching or dropout problems. Copying these back to the PC proves that the file became corrupted by the player at some point. And it's happened with files from 2 different PCs, both in MP3 and WMA format... This suggests that there might be a fault with the flash RAM. The troubleshooting guide suggests copying the track across again, but the trouble with this is that there's no guarantee that the player will use the same section of memory, and I might not notice the problem until a few weeks later. For this reason, I haven't bothered formatting the player (or upgrading the firmware because this isn't one of the issues listed) AdvancedMP3 have issued an RMA number, but as I haven't had clear communication from a human yet, I don't know if they plan to test it or just replace it (another reason for leaving it alone). It's less than 7 days old, so covered by DSR. Has anyone else seen this before? Will reformatting it perform a proper low-level format that will test and mark out any bad areas? Or perhaps the format option within the service menu do that? Or should I just return it and hope the replacement is ok? Having said all of that, I put another 4GB or so of content on last night, and that went OK. It only seems to be a problem with the first few 100 MBs that I put on when initially got the player... The preloaded content seems OK as well. Thanks in advance for any comments, Mark |

Really, TBH, most of us here use either drag and drop or another program altogether. Try either Media Monkey, or possibly Winamp. Both work great and solve most of the probs you have.
http://www.winamp.com/ http://www.mediamonkey.com/ Also, Sony players sometimes DO need to be reformatted to work correctly. The reps never seem to give this info when you call them, I SHOULD KNOW,................................

Drag and drop all the way for me. I don't use playlists...don't know if it can make 'em.
As for constructing albums and adding artist names, I just right-click and edit them.
