Interface looks a little more intelligent than the Cowon O2, but reacts as sluggish. At least the P7 has more tactile buttons... codec support is probably not on par with the O2, considering iRiver's history.

Wonder if it's still a crappy 480x272 screen, or a decent 800x480 one? No SD slot? Battery life?

Yeah, it does look sluggish. Hopefully the interface will be speedier before launch.

I believe that is is 480x272, unfortunately , but it does have a microsd slot (don't know why it has microsd instead of sd, though...). Forgot to mention that in the first post.

With a trip to pocketables I found out much more. 50 hours battery life, 4/8/16 NAND flash memory, full movie codec support (whatever that means), 7 preset EQ, srs wow hd, voice recording.

At least they have time to fix that before release. The P3 (P3/P7/P35 what is up with P?) looked real sluggish too a couple of months ago. @ CES it looked snappy.

Btw, why isn't it on the FP yet? It was announced yesterday, the Sony was up within hours.

Maybe Enzo hasn't been to the iriver booth yet.

Exactly, he will post it when he got some quality hands-on time with the player.

Never trust CNET, most of the time they really don't know what they're talking about. Maybe it has Wifi, maybe it doesn't... we will know for sure once a reputable journalist writes about it.

In the endagdet video, an iriver rep is talking about the P7. The engadget guy asks if it has wifi and the rep said it doesn't. That's where I got my info.

Also: Pocketables on the D50N eDictionary (which on the contrary does have wifi, but obviously will be a korean only device) http://www.pocketables.net/2009/01/wifi-enabled-ir.html

Exactly, I trust that info a lot more than what CNET mutters...

Jenn over at Pocketables has a hands-on - she likes it.

Interestingly, the "P7" appears to be called "P10" on iRiver's website...
