Smile source code for d2 firmware

I am sure the cowon people can open source the application layer of source code. many enthusiasts can develop great portable applications.

when it comes to games i would say its idiotic to play games that require many presses of keys.

games like chess which takes minimum key presses but excellent enjoyment are the ones to go.

The D2 supports flashlite, the games and such are in FLASH. No source code needed.

Furthermore, they can't release the source code since the D2 runs on Nucleus RTOS, which is a proprietary closed source environment.

Check here for games, there are already lots of D2-compatible Flash games available.

From what I've found 'D2 compatible' and playable are 2 different things. There are lots of stuff that can work on the D2, but many things don't run at full speed and are impossible to get it to work right. Linerider doesn't work properly, which is a shame as that'd be fun to have portable.

Hmm? I thought that thread I linked to is about games that work on the D2. Personally, I don't know of course, I never tried a single Flash app on my D2...

I tried quite a few games that were on iaudiophile.net, 99% really sucked. It's just not that great to play games on the D2.

That's why the D2 is an excellent audio player, and a somewhat nice video player. For games I have a DS, no need to dick around with that Flash junk.

Bowman is the best d2 game, ever. =D

Use an FF plugin like DownloadHelper to extract flash content for games.

Getting the games on the D2 was never the issue, weither using 2.XX or 3.XX fw, the games just aren't worth it. To brag about being able to play these things on the D2 is all it really comes down to.

What I mean is that they do indeed work on the D2, they just have so much lag that it's hardly playable. Things like curveball and linerider 'work' but lag so much it's not fun.

I disagree. There's quite a few of pretty games that work on the D2 and work damn well Offcourse I use my D2 mainly for audio but I played two hours of flash games on my D2 today (took the bus to other side of the country). It's just trail ad error, when you try 100 games maybe 5 will work decent but they'e worth it

I see your point, but the fact that I'd need to try 100 games for 5 to work doesn't justify the D2 as being classified as a good choice for flash games, period. That just reinforces what most of see, that the D2 is just not the best for flash games. So, it ends up being NOT worth it.

I second that. When a player has a feature has a trial and error process, that feature doesn't need to be in the player itself. Yeah its probably very possible to port decent games for this player, but there is no centralized area for these 'good' games, and there is certainly no easy way to get to them.

Can you imagine if they stuck the mp3 codec on the D2, expecting trial and error? A mess.

I've already tried curveball and it's a laggy mess. If you've ever played that game on the real computer you know it's a game of reflexes and speed, so any slowdown ruins the game. I think we have different ideas on what's 'playable'.

But I still look forward to the rar pack
