Default Recommended Video Conversion/Encoding Settings ?

Hello there

Just got my D2 16 GB...just loving it...it literally kicks ipod's ass in terms of sound quality ( & features )...

well the question i am asking here must had been discussed many times before (i tried to search forums, but really couldn't get clear cut answer)...so really sorry if this is uncomfortable for somebody...

I am using Format Factory ( lifehacker's winner ), one of best free and simple to use Media (not just only video) converter software....

Right now i am using these settings :

Video Size : 320 X240
FPS : 30
Bitrate : 512 (will 384 give good results with faster speed ?)
Video Encode : Xvid ( not divx or MPEG4 , as Xvid is Open Source & i firmly believe in it )
Keep Aspect : Yes

Audio :

Sample Rate : 44100
Bitrate : 128
Audio Encode : Default

Could someone please comment on this configuration.

Is this a good configuration in terms of fine balance of speed and quality ?

Is there any scope of improvement to achieve best balance of speed of conversion & quality of videos? (though i am getting pretty high quality videos with no Audio Video Sync problems right now.)

I am also interested in these details. I'm using ffmpeg on linux and I can't seem to get the settings to be acceptable for the player.

Here are my settings:

FPS: 23.98
Size: 320x240
Aspect: 1.3333
Format: avi

I copied those settings from videos that do work on the D2. Unfortunately, it's not working.
