Popping on playback through PA system

I recently bought a Sansa Fuze as an alternative to an iPod. I am a musician and wanted something to plug into my PA for walk in and break music. On a gig last weekend I noticed an annoying pop coming through the speakers and unplugged the device figuring I had a faulty jack on the Fuze or a bad cable This afternoon I brought it to a rehearsal for reference and when I play back the recording the pop is back . This time I thought perhaps I am singing loud and overloading the teeny weenie little mic. I will return it of course but was curious if anyone else has experienced this problem.

I think someone had this issue and found out it was a cable issue, but I can not find it yet.
