So we can understand how ubiquitous the cables will be or how easy they will be to replace. And also because we are gadget nerds and what to understand everything we can about our devices.

Mostly because some of the more loyal Cowon fans(myself) are extremely mad about how they went away from their ways of the normal usb cable. Unless this cable becomes very popular, very quickly, then I wont be touching the S9.

Oh, and Enzo, maybe if you could then could you ask the Cowon person about getting a random feature for videos on the Q5? Thanks.

When a bunch of us have then, we can put together a list of fixes we would like to see and i will make sure that list gets into the right hands.

My LG phone uses a connector very similar to the Cowon S9, but they certainly aren't compatible. It would be nice to have had a standard USB plug, but it isn't a deal breaker for me, plus I guess this cable enables the extra functionality like TV-out.

I think the cable w/additional pins would benefit to whoever uses the TV-Out function. More pins, more info relayed. Could be a more audiophile/videophile setup. I think it's a plus!!!

Looks like my Samsung BJII data/charging cable; when my S9 arrives Christmas Eve, I'll let you know if A. It looks different enough that I'm also too scared to try it , or 2. It's identical enough that it actually works with it!

My S9 worked fine with the cable that came with my SPINN. Charged and was able to transfer data. That impies to me that the USB data/power lines are standard, at least between Korean manufactures.

It's not too terribly uncommon, I can use the 3 chargers for the bluetooth headset, and 2 of my parents' LG phones (whenever I'm home).

I think I can borrow one for a wall charger

It's not the same as all LG chargers/data cables though. For instance, it's not the same as the one used by the LG KU990 Viewty.

It seems that cowon sells the USB cable for the S9 on their JetMall site for $7.99. I couldn't find it by browsing their site accessories / cables section, but Google found it by searching Cowon S9 USB Cable. Viva Google!
