I see that my method doesn't seem to work every time.
Try to do the following.

You're probably accustomed to unbricking the P2.
Get the unbricking tool here, prepare firmware v1.15 and config.dat with the text:

YP-P2
KR KR UMS
1) Put the firmware v1.15 and the config.dat file to the root directory of the P2 prior to running the unbricking tool.
2) Run the unbricking tool following the instructions in this thread. Use the exact same v1.15 firmware. Do NOT select the 'Erase blah blah' facility in the preferences.
3) When finished flashing the rom file, turn on your player. Your firmware will be v1.15 US.
4) Change the region to the preferred one as described in other threads on the ABI forums. Now you're done! Hope that helps.

After I had written the .rom-file with FWDN I could change firmware as usual.

Now having the latest ORIGINAL YPP2 firmware v5.10 and it's really nice again.

How out of the ordinary for hacks and mods to be made after the hype is long gone. Regardless of whether the p2 has a hype surrounding it or not anymore, it is an amusing feat to get the p2 to its full potential.
Congrats on continuing the p2 mod.

Default update great, ucis are mia
I got the fw update to work flawlessly, but now all of my UCIs are gone. When connected to the PC, I see the .uci files in the "My Pack" folder, but the only ones that the p2 will recognize are the 3 originals. I want my custom uci back, any ideas other than uploading them from emodio again to the p2? help is appreciated greatly

The new DNSe is only for the genre of music the guy that this was made for plays...

I followed your instructions to the letter and used all the correct files, but now my P2 won't turn on anymore.

Windows Vista won't recognize it as an external drive.

Any ideas on how to unbrick my player?
