Wow that looks great, I might get the p3 later on in a couple months or so, but i havent even got my hands on a p2 yet(getting one for x-mas). It definitely has a different look to it but i dont see the huge jump from the p2 to the p3.

yea the price is pretty good considering its not that much of a huge jump from the p2. The UI is looking pretty good and the "new" look and feel of it is pretty good as well. Im thinking ill upgrade maybe in the spring.

I was watching the P3 video as i was using the S9 and i thought the same. There are a lot of similarities there in the UI. Also check out some size comparison pics, S9 vs P2, in the cowon S9 photo album. ... then there is the Sony Walkman Touch... things are heating up, im getting hyped for CES =D

Yup with all the heavy weights in mp3 players launching their new hot products... every one is getting crazy... If I could only go to CES *sigh*

The p3 seems to be a worth upgrade from the p2 in my point of view... I underestimated samsung quite a bit.. I am know quite impressed with it after seeing the video

Grahm, Do we really know if the rumored Sony (touchscreen) is anything more than just that?

Other than what looks like a Photoshop mockup of a possible device, I don't think I've seen any more info on it. Though it remains an intriguing possibility and Sony could certainly put forth a nice touch-screen based player if they so desired, at this point I am somewhat skeptical. A three-way showdown, would certainly make a great review.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Sony enters the fray and gives up their damn overly-complicated alpha-numeric naming scheme at the same time.. one of their biggest impediments to sales IMO.

as i said earlier, i probably will buy me one. however, i plan to get the htc touch hd as well, which might make the p3 obsolete.

yes its a phone. but it plays mp3 files too. so you see, it's all connected together.

I'm interested in the S9 because of the screen. But is AMOLED a big deal, or just hype?

I heard inside rumors about a new device that sony would announce at CES some months ago. I would assume that this is it. But also SonyInsider has been correct with stuff in the past, i think they are a good source.

The S9 screen is pretty amazing, but so are many of the screens on new devices anyway. Putting the P2 next to the S9- the only difference i really see is the pixel response time- color and brightness both look great. AMOLED is much faster and there may be some big gains in battery life. AMOLED is definitely better, but i think the difference in visual quality is negligable to most. So yeah, its a bit over hyped. The AMOLED screen in the S9 is likely made by Samsung anyway.
