Cptnodegard did you use dfkt's hot glue trick? Nice DIY, I wonder if you could make some kind of form like a small pill bottle or piece of piping?

Lol ive been using hot glue for the last 10 years, I just normally cover it up.
Dunno what you mean by pill bottle or pipe, but if you mean a resistor adapter it really shouldne be any bigger than this unless it either had a second contact point for stability or is a short cable. Stress on the jack would kill it |

Heh, no I mean something to form it into a shape. If you put it into a piece of pipe and then hot glued it then it would come out in a circular shape. Might look kind of nice.

Ah yes now i get you. I have done that before, but having excess glue would defeat the purpose of making the smallest adapter ever. Im not going to use it anyways, just a proof of concept.

Not quite sure where this belongs, but this thread seemed like a safe bet.
This is my second attempt and my first success. Old-school tape adapter (was actually bundled with an original Sony Discman back when they were first coming), re-cabled and re-jacked for the new millennium:

Finally cut down the cable of my HFI-780 to a useful portable size and terminated them with a threaded Switchcraft plug, so I can still use the stock screw-on 3.5-to-6.2mm adapter.
That Switchcraft plug has no threading on the inside, so I used adhesive heatshrink, hot glue, the barrel of a Neutrik plug, and some heatshrink on the outside again... that should last for a while. Considering the temperatures here in Austria at the moment, they make damn fine ear muffs on the go. ![]()

I just finished making a cable extension for my phones. The plugs colors don't match, I know it might bother some people, but i simply couldn't care less

![]() Sorry for the cell phone pic. First ever attempt at making something with a soldering iron. Did this on a whim so I just found the nearest ethernet cable ripped it apart and got some Radio Shack plugs. Also had to redo it because I kept forgetting to slide the barrels and heatshrink on (and the solder smoke too ).

Here's a black techflex neutrik right angle IC that I made this morning, what's nice is that it's really flexable.
