Maybe this will help clarify for anyone having trouble -

At the root of the Clip I see these directories -

That has nothing to do with my problem I just have glitches where is stops my music playing mp3 files.

Right, that was for the other guy who was apparently having trouble with his unzip program.

I've got the same build as you and I have had a few freezes when I was exploring the applications, and once while just playing an .ogg file. I've been listening just about all afternoon. My mp3s are all VBR, they seem to play through just fine.

you might want to take a look at your file tagging. I had the same problem with some of my mp3's and retagged them...problem solved.

I did it and it works. crossfade makes my player stop playing anything, though.

Well I see that since that version developers were mostly working with the clock frequencies, maybe that causes all those stops and freezes. I am having them too, mostly with mp3's, ogg's play nice most of the time.

For those who are Rockboxing: if you boot to the original SanDisk firmware (or flash back to it), can you play DRM'ed files? Or is that ability lost?

Funman mentioned that the ability to play DRMed files will be lost forever once you flash a Rockbox bootloader on the Clip. You asked this question a few pages ago and already got a definite answer: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/sho...&postcount=189

what part about "running great" was lost in the translation, no stops and no freezes. I play albums all the way thru without problems and it sounds great. The infrequent freeze that may happen is my fault for tooling around with too much during music playback, but this rarely happens.

I mean I am having same stops and freezes as lot of other testers. It looks like one of the main developer is having them too. But you don't weird... What format of music are you usually listening to ? Maybe some special tagging or something ?

I had to go and try for myself, wish now I didn't. Playback totally locked up after turning on crossfade and I couldn't turn off crossfade again. The only way I got it back to working was to flash back to OF, wipe out the .rockbox directory and then reload rockbox.

I'm not complaining (i know there are no guarantees on firmware still in development) so much as trying to warn others...

oh, my confusion since you quoted me. On older stuff I have 192 vbr, tagged in mp3tag. I'll try some other rips today and post back later.

You could just replace old .rockbox folder with the unmodified one. No need to reflash.

i found out not why it didn't rockboxed before. the clip got still recognized in the "sansa usb mode". you cannot rockbox it there. at some point it chanfed to msc mode. it is weird.
it is working great now. i only have some database issues sometimes and for some reason i couldn't play any audiofiles anymore and it didn't let me erase the .rockbox folder (i had to format it then).
it is nice to see what the small, little clip is able to do. so tiny, but a wonderful player

Originally I found that after the initial flashing it changed the OF to "auto detect" and I always just changed it back to msc, I haven't checked if that's still the case.

With 1.01.30 and earlier the stock firmware got reset to default values after each update, you always have to set it to MSC manually. With 1.01.32 it keeps the MSC setting for me after each bootloader update, only the language and region have to be set.
