KSC-75 Winter Use Tip

Here's a neat trick for using your Koss KSC-75s when its really cold. And since I see on another thread that there are really good deals on them now, it might be worth getting a pair just for this purpose.

I saw in the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog these "Ear Warmer Headphones". These are 180s brand ear warmers with head phone drivers installed.

I happen to have a pair of 180s and also some KSC-75's that I don't use outdoors once it gets cold, so I thought hmmmm, why not? It turns out that it is very simple to pop off the ear clips and remove the foam from the KSC-75 drivers and slip them into the 180s. It takes a little stretching of the opening on ear warmers to get the drivers in. Then you can slide your finger into the opening to prosition the drivers in the middle of the ear warmer. They stay in place well and sound fine.

But be aware that the 180s are really warm, so this is trick best suited for serious winter weather use.

Thought about pictures, after the fact, but there is really not much to see. Now looks just like the ones in the link I posted to Hammacher Schlemmer. Yes, I suppose I should have taken some photos when I was taking apart the phones and inserting them in the ear warmers. Someone thinking about doing this might appreciate seeing the process, but sorry I didn't.

I guess if there is a lot of interest I could still take them apart again to take the photos.

I just thought other snow birds would find it interesting and a good mod to make. Not much use for /me in Florida
