Indeed, and there is a dual-boot bootloader too. That means that (with a little preparation) you can boot to either Rockbox or the original firmware.

I'll follow up with more detailed instructions sometime soon.

Sweet! Now listening to music on your Sansa without the crappy included Firmware is getting closer to being something of the past!

just download it from there site. there is no reason to post the files here, the builds are consantly changing. and right now it apears as if the PP5022 file is being worked on because it currently doesnt boot rockbox.

i would have to agree...the risk (albeit, maybe low) is not worth it considering it doesn't even play music yet.

you know what they say about curiousity and cats.

I used the rockbox firmware for my old Archos Jukebox and it was FAR AND AWAY much better than the standard firmware. If the only thing the firmware added was the ability to enqueue songs, that would make it good enough for me , although of course there is so much more!

Can't wait.

Sweet! I have heard so much good things about the RockBox firmware and it sounds like it's getting very close to finishing! I hope it releases soon but, don't rush it!! Great work takes time .

If you want a taste of how it's gonna be like - I made some screenshots of Rockbox on my X5: http://iaudiophile.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=27

It'll look pretty much the same on the e200.

i got a rockbox question, i've been poking around their site but can't seem to find a definitive answer.

does sansa support wma...more specifically, DRM'd wma. for my own CDs, i can just re-encode, but i got some DRM'd stuff i don't really want to do the whole burn2cd->re-rip thing.

also, anyone know if the sansa port will support crossfading? it's pretty much the only feature i want out of it. (and maybe the better video support)

Rockbox doesn't support video at the moment. MPEG1 without sound is working, but that's about it for now.

There is no WMA support at all at the moment. When there is, there almost certainly won't be DRM support.

The crossfading will be there as soon as we have sound. The video support is very limited at the moment, but will get better when people focus on working on it.

Just to clarify, it's MPEG2 without sound that is supported.

Does Rockbox support WMAs w/DRM at all? I have quite a few WMAs that I bought from Walmart. If Rockbox won't play them is there a way to convert them without reduction in sound quality?
