Default Seems Rockbox development for the e200 has started

There's a build for the e200 UI simulator on the Rockbox CVS page: http://www.rockbox.org/cvs.shtml

(Don't know if that's old news, I was just browsing through Rockbox.org and found it.)

Yep, it started to "work" a couple of days ago. However, the simulation does not simulate the hardware, just the software/screen/buttons.
Someone still needs to write a flash driver, audio driver, etc...

I don't think it is neccesary to post every single little change here. If you want to check it just go to the rockbox site.

It'd be nice if somebody posted a sticky round here about rockbox once sound is working, since most users won't notice otherwise

I agree that it isnt important for all sansa users to know about every little update and release, but i think many people interested in "hacks and mods". I hope that a new sub forum can be added under the e200 series soon devoted entirely to rockbox. Once it is up and running, which I predict will be very soon, there will be many things to discuss-themes, games, video playback and many others. Once the iriver h10 port was as far as the sansa e200 is now, it was only a few weeks where a stable version of rockbox was working.

i'm wondering if they could incorporate a delete function so if you accidentally sync the wrong song or you get tired of one, or most importantly if one gets corrupted and you keep running into it

dunno, just a thought

The h10 port was relatively easy, since it uses a lot of the same hardware as the iPods and therefore the drivers were already mostly written. I would imagine that the Sansa port is more than a few weeks away at the moment, since as far as I am aware nobody knows how to use the DAC.

The actually Sansa can't run in read only mode, but it should within a few days, or maybe a week. The DAC still wouldn't work, but at least we'd be able to test a little.

Why we need ROCKBOX firmware on Sansa e280 is FLAC support for lossless audio in my car !! just think 8GB internal plus 4GB external card wow ...this is one of the few products which allows user replaceable battery

P.S add a pair of www.etymotic.com in the ear headphones and viola finest sound on the planet IMHO..

Default If not by sandisk then is it legit?

will it be "safe" to run. and in case the sansa malfunctions because of rockbox, will the warranty honor it? The rockbox, to me, looks like an awesome mod...but It's considered a hack and may cause many problems to the player like other hacks.

Man, I can't wait for rockbox. I'm tired of watching huge ass videos on my Sansa. It would be refreshing to try and fit in more than just an half an hour of video on the thing. I'm honestly pumped to the max.

Even if it isn't allowed (which would be odd since sandisk donated 3 Sansa's to rockbox for porting) they can't prove you used rockbox (unless you really screw up and can't acces your sansa anymore, they *COULD* check what was on your flash which is actually not allowed by law in most countries (privacy etc.).)
