Sansa e280 Video Problem

Don't know the correct translation:
"The file can't be imported (?), please install first the right Codec.
If the file cant be played on you computer, Sansa Media Convert may not support the format or the file is broken"

Which Codec?

Its a .avi file.
Some .avi files work! Why some not?

With which format do I have the less problems?
or
How can I fix the problem in general?

I only want to put the videos REALLY SIMPLE on my mp3 Player = Sansa e280!

I already downloaded "Super", but I only understand the half...

WHO CAN HELP ME - PLEASE !!!!

Do you know if you have a version 1 or version 2 e280 Pat?. My easiest suggestion would be for you to put Rockbox on it and use WinFF (assuming your e280 is a version 1 since Rockbox does not work on the version 2's at the moment). WinFF is so easy yes a girl could use it..j/k!

On the little cd is writen "Installation CD Version: 2.0 Sansa e200 Series"

Pat, you have to look at the firmware version. If you have 01.XX.XX, you have a v1. If you have 03.XX.XX, you have a v2.

Yes as advcomp2019 said above when you turn on your player use your wheel to navigate to SETTINGS then scroll down to INFO and hit the middle play button. There will be information there regarding your player. if the VERSION starts with 01.xx.xxx you have a version 1 player. If it starts with 03.xx.xxx then you have a version 2 player. Make sure that your video is in a compatible format for the Sansa Media Converter.

From the Sansa site.....

Video Files: MPEG 1, AVI, dat, DVR-MS, MOV, QT, MP4, asf, wmv, 3gp/3gpp2, DivX(ver 6.0).

now comes the hard part....

unfortunately Rockbox is not an option for you because you have a version 2.

My experience with Sansa Media Converter has been trying at times. It's picky about what video formats it likes. Make sure you use the latest version, and if you don't succeed the first time keep trying using small videos. I'm sure in time you'll get to learn how to do it.
