Im still deciding whetever getting a Iriver clix2 or Cowon D2
i have some concern about Cowon D2 hope some good fellow can answer I like the red one: ![]() Now the biggest question , is there any difference in quality and function between the black and red one Black one usually more expensive (i heard but also harder to find) so why black one more expensive? Has black one something the red has not? And yea i compare 8/16gb black vs 8/16gb red (if there is a 16gb red?) Will I miss quality and get poor firmware if i get the red one over black normaly in daps colors dont mather but never knows when is cowon ![]() 2. Have another question about themes: Any places i can check out what themes are avaible and preview them For example what is this theme called and where to get it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W18cewR9Zh0 And what is the best theme out there for D2 and Plz dont suggest Vista or mac style themes How hard is it to install theme you have to MOD the D2 or just install certain firmware and then how easy or hard is it to switch between theme Say you get bored of a theme so how do you change it fast? Also i like Loud volume is Cowon d2 volume louder than Iriver clix2 i always pump up the db on .mp3s because i want it loud (but then again i mostly use over ear headphones not in-ear or earplug so no problem) Hope someone can answer this question Red Cowon D2 , Black Cowon D2 or Iriver clix2 redline thats my choice hehe |

AFAIK, there are no differences in functionality between different colors. I assume the reds are cheaper because they are less popular. But I could be wrong about that.
The best place for themes http://iaudiophile.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=62 There is a thread that tells you how to install themes/skins. Just follow it correctly and you'll be fine. Switching themes is just a matter of replacing the file. Simple. That theme on the youtube link looks like this one http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showth...t=14856&page=2 I have not tried the clix2 (even though I want to) so I can't say much about volume. I would like to know about this too.

Hi CoolVibes!
I haven't tried the Clix2, so I can't give you a honest opinion about it, but I just got myself a 16GB Black D2 2 weeks ago, and trust me, I love it. Now, I have never seen a 16GB Red D2. I think 16GB model comes in black only. Red version is 2-4-8GB only. About devices specs, use the site's comparison tool http://www.anythingbutipod.com/compa...s-iriver-clix2 |

The clix 2 is a fine device, HOWEVER has no SD slot. If you want to expand your memory in the future you're unable to. The sound quality and volume in the clix is top notch. The screen is amazing, and the UI is pretty nice.

beside doesnt the battery drain fast while acessing direcly from Sdcard Say you have the D2 full but have 2 albums stored on Sdcards and want to stream the music directly from the Sdcards, you can that right?, but then does this not consume lot of battery? and does Cowon D2 not make sound when acessing/streaming the card? About iriver is it true that they break easy or is this just some limited out-of-luck issues? |

Nothing will make noise when accessing an SD card, it doesn't have any moving parts. Also, the battery life shouldn't be affected by any large amount by using the SD card. You still have to use energy to access the built in memory, and the same energy is now being used to just access a different spot. The D2 has great battery life regardless, so it won't be very noticeable.

Ok, I think they are dead. They used a free service to host and I don't think the downloads are active anymore.
Either way OP if you just google 'clix 2 themes' you get quite a few decent results.

About the Dead themelink on iriver i didnt read this until now
"[NOTICE] Most themes are hosted on free file sharing services to reduce the main server load. Since the services are free, they come with certain restriction such as download limit/bandwidth per day/month. When the limit is reached the service will temperately stopped till the next day/month comes. They are not perfect but at least they are free. If any of the link below doesn't give you the file or bring you to a download page, please be patient and wait for the bandwidth to be reseted automatically." Ok so is not dead just bandwitch limited or something there realy should be a better hosting solution so i will keep trying to acess them later |

Is the problem of breaking volume button realy a big problem on Clix2?

I don't think the volume buttons are that widespread of a problem. Any DAP has a few units that get faulty, and most iriver users are also pretty PC savy and are involved in forums. So that means those few folks who get problems post on the forums and things look worse than they are. Besides, iriver has pretty awesome customer service and will replace your player if it breaks within the first year (or maybe more).
The themes from the first clix will NOT work on the clix 2, but the 4gig clix2 themes should work fine on the redline version of the clix2
