D2 for $188.32 @ Amazon, $184.99 @ Jetaudio, Is this the right time to buy?

S9 and O2 will take care of the 32GB market. If they were making a 32GB D2 it would already be out there, especially now that the D2 prices are dropping.

Perhaps Cowon might be waiting until a 32 gig D2 might be able to be sold by discount retailers for under $200? It looks like the O2 will initially be $300 for the 32 gig model. The O2 seems like it only gets 18 hours battery life for music though, and is much larger and heavier than the D2, so those who aren't so interested in video might prefer to buy a D2. I guess Cowon might also want to discontinue the 4 gig D2 and for retailers to sell out of their inventories of 4 gig D2 players before releasing a 32 gig D2?

They will not release a 32GB D2. You might have to wait for the D3, JK98.

You may be right. I guess it depends on how much 32 gigs of memory will cost Cowon, how much inventory of smaller capacity players retailers have, and how far Cowon has progressed on getting parts to build the D3. Electronics sales are expected to be rather depressed this holiday season. Some consumers might be waiting for sales in January to get a good price, although since so few retailers sell Cowon products, they might be sold out by the end of the year. For other brands of players, if someone doesn't need the player for a holiday gift, then it might be much cheaper early next year.

Why make a d2 when you can sell s9s and o2s at higher profit margins?

Because from what I am understanding the D2 is better in quality in audio than the O2 and it is not that bad in video but the O2 beats it in video. The S9 will be better maybe in the audio than the D2 and better video than the O2 maybe but it is lacking a SDHC card slot and 32 gb so far is the highest you could go when you could go higher in the O2 and D2. Maybe that why.

I believe that once O2/S9 are out there and stable, D2 development and upgrades (even 32GB) will stop.
Of course, this is my guess based on market practices.
I don't know what's the experience with other cowon models after new models come out.

Hmm, with these prices it's going to be hard for me to rationalize paying so much for an S9, which isn't even expandable.
