[Info/test] Comparaison P2 16gb and 4gb

So, until now I had a 4gb P2 that my contact at Samsung offered to me.
And since yesterday I have also a 16gb P2 that generationmp3 gave me in gratitude for my work on the forum (Do I derserve such a gift, that's another question...)

So I thought both models were exactly the same, except memory capacity but in fact there are hardware differences!
Indeed, the screen does not seem to be the same.
Colors are not the same. There are more beautiful on the 4gb version. On the 16gb P2 the white color is more yellowish and the 4gb's screen seems to be sharper!
So I'm surprised!

(I precise I tested with the same brightness option and with the same movie)

Wow, that's a little disappointing. Could it be that they had so much memory stuffed into the 16GB P2 that they had to compromise other hardware, like the screen? You're right though, the color seems sort of "faded" on the 16 GB.

yeah maybe they used a worse screen to keep the price low?

That's always a possibility too. How much does the 16GB P2 cost (in USD) ?

There are manufacturing variations in all products. Also, consumer electronic devices often go thru revisions (component modifications, changes, quality improvements, cost reductions , etc.) during the production run. The revisions are usually apparent upon inspection of the PCB boards. I'd bet the differences have more to do with the date of manufacture than the capacity.

Yes, as the 16gb P2 entered in production lately compared with 2-4-8gb models...

Could it be that the screens look different because the older on has been used longer? Some kind of "burn out"? But then again you said the older one looks better... Or maybe different firmware versions?

Yes sure that the older looks better. But the 4gb is not a factory model. It has been assembled piece by piece so...?

Firmwares are identical, both in 5.10
