Default New Firmware 1.01.15

Get it here: http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/boar...thread.id=4880

Edit by WalkGood 10/13/08: You can dl zip Here

unzip (extract) the file after downloading. Open a Windows Explorer window and plug in your Fuze, in MSC mode, preferably. Double click on the Fuze, and simply drag and drop the .bin file into the root directory.

Besides the support of OGG and FLAC (which is great), I like the list wrapping feature most! You can now quickly go from A to Z.

I've never done a firmware upgrade before...will this upgrade wipe everything off my Fuze? Just want to make sure before I start...

Nothing will be deleted (if the flash goes smooth). Just make sure, that your device is at 50% batterie capacity or more before you upgrade.

Thanks for the tip on the battery level! Good to know! I noticed that Sansa's website says I must switch the player to MSC mode before connecting for the update.

Thanks again!

@Fallstar: sry for not mentioning this earlier, but, although nowhere stated, there actually is something erased. I found, that the ratings you can give to your songs are gone after the flash. If that is an issue to you, you may want to backup the ratings before you flash - I heard that some 3rd party software is capable of doing that (but can't remember the name anymore).

BTW: did anyone find out, whats up with the SMC update that is listed by the new updater? I found, that the "update" installs the old version 4.236.

Wow that new start up screen is beautiful! Really shows how nice the screen can be.
EDIT: Yeah! Battery percentage indicator! And a new graphic for the connected screen!

Yep, I really like this FW. Scrolling through Albums with "show album art in list" enabled is A LOT smoother now too.

Unhappy

Ok, I had to update the updater software first...but now when I connect my Fuze, it searches for an update, then says there are NO updates available! I double checked the current FW on the player is 1.01.11A. Not sure why it is not finding the new one.

Edit: I see there is more than one way to update the firmware...I watched Sansa's how-to video on updating FW, but on their forum, I see one can download the files directly and drag them into the Sansa directory. Does this need to be done in MSC mode as well, and do I need to have the player connected already?

Edit again...Sorry, I finally got it to work...just downloaded the update and dragged it into the sansa directory. Thanks!

Excellent! I saw the Clip update story on the front page and was like, what!?

I have large playlists so I can confirm that large playlist handling is much improved. It does take a moment to initially read a 400 song playlist, but it's not unreasonable. Once it's read moving through it is much easier and the display shows the song title now instead of just the file name.

O_o .... They didn't mention anything about that.

:checks Fuze:

YES!! A day of re-tagging mp3s did not go to waste. Besides the upgraded playlist navigation, this is something I am really happy about. Now just have to wait for someone (or myself) to make a program to do playlist creation and editing and I will be one happy Sansa user.

First, thanks for the apology. Doesn't usually happen on the intertubes.

Second, its Windows only. : sighs: Mac Users are left in the dust.
