Default sansa e260 not recognised
hi, i formated my pc the other day and have just tried to update my music on my sansa but have been having a nightmare of a time trying!

i plugged the sansa in as usual but it was not recognised in 'autodetect' mode i tried 'mtp' and 'msc' mode and still nothing.

i restarted my pc and tried them again and it did show up in 'mtp' mode but it showed a load of files that werent there before my pc format, and the music folder was empty. i go to properties and it shows i have 3.5gb on the sansa!
after another restart nothing is showing again.

my pc is showing hidden files and folders but i dont know what to do

anyone have a solution? or had a similar problem?

also, i have no sansa software on my machine, if it came with an installation disk, i lost it.
do i need software to use it? if i do i cant remember installing any the first time.

Have you tried MSC mode again? Have you tried a different USB port?

You do not need the CD because the CD only has the manual and Sansa Media Converter on it.

hi cheers for the reply, yes i just tried it again and the drive is now there but showing as SANSA E200P, but all the folders are empty

Do you have a V1 or V2? Sounds like you loaded you song in MTP mode, and some of the Sansas you will not see the files MSC mode.

i just checked and according to the settings the actual version is v03.01.16f, but i could be wrong, i might have looked in the wrong place

You have a v2 then. That is common with the v2's. The Clip has the same issue. When you load something in MTP mode, it will not show up in MSC mode. The other way is the same. If you loaded your music in MSC mode, you will not see them in MTP mode.
