Default Video Conversion Software (free)

If you are looking for a free, fast, and non-bloat video conversion program for your player, try Winff. You can download it here http://code.google.com/p/winff/ It has a very simple interface. You just click 'add' to add the file you want to convert, and select your player and the format (4.3 or 16.9) that you want from drop down lists (called pre-sets). Although there are loads of players listed, Walkman is not among them, so I figured out the pre-sets for Walkman, which you can add using the 'import' facility. You can find the Walkman pre-sets here http://www.biggmatt.com/forums/index.php?topic=222.0
There is a Linux version available, and info on how to set it up in Linux here http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2008/0...ff-and-ffmpeg/

I also recommend the "any video converter" free version. just select the "customized mp4" profile which happens to match the video/audio settings of the walkman perfectly.

Yes, i use Anyvideo converter too. Converts my mkv files.
Pay software crashed with some MKVs.
Anyvideoconverter uses FFMPEG and other nice tools inside.

Cool

I used to use Winavi too. Nice but crashes with some of my MKV files. I switched to Anyvideoconverer, after trying a lot of software. If you don't have MKVs you can use Winavi too .
I see WinFF a litle bit complicated.
