Samsung say it isn't officially released in the UK at the moment. It's on Amazon for £170ish.

Would be good if it is properly released, at about £140 perhaps, lowering the cost of the 8gb to £110ish and 4gb to £70/80 taking the 2gb off the market. Anyone agree with this?

Actually maybe there isn't a 2gb any more, but i'm sure there was when it was originally released around september of last year.

I'm very tempted by the 8gb now.

16gb-8gb=8gb, period

That's correct, the only difference between the 8gb and the 16gb is the memory increase.

I know of two other shops in the UK that stock the 16GB:

Hughes Direct - £179.99

and their new sister company

Homecinematv.co.uk - £174.99

I bought mine at Homecinematv about 2 months ago.
