Why is this under Creative if it's a comparison of all PMPs?

I own a D2
1. 10
2. 10 (quality is good...on the player not Tv-out, but it just takes time to convert it to the right format).
3. 10 (52 hours is reallly nice)
4. 8- It has a lot of cool features/flash programs, but the playlist problem lowers the score imo
5. 9- Small, but kind of thick by today's standards
6. 8/9- The touchscreen is nice, but there's a decent learning curve.
7. N/A- Never used it

Another D2 owner.

1. 9
2. 8 (Personally, I find the screen to small to watch video on, but aside from the size, it's very good.)
3. 10. 52 hours is longer than almost all other PMP's.
4. 7 It has a flash player, but there's a lot of lag on most games, and support is kinda limited. Playlist support is somewhat bad. Excellent audio support, mediocre video support.
5. 6
6. 7. It's fine for music browsing, but folder browsing is a little awkward.
7. The software has such a flatulent reputation that I've never bothered to use it. But you don't necessarily need software for anything. There's plenty of 3rd party software that will work just fine.

The only thing that I think I ought to mention about the D2 not previously mentioned is that the the firmware isn't perfect and you will have to reload it at some point, which isn't all that easy. Also, reloading the firmware deletes all the data on the D2, which is a little annoying.

If I wanted to be excessively critical, I'd also mention that the touchscreen could be a bit more accurate, video support could be better, radio reception is hit and miss (though overall good), the shuffle feature needs moderate improvement, you can only zoom in up to 3x when viewing pictures (no matter how high the resolution the picture is) and pictures take a few seconds to display (correctly) when chosen in the browser.

Again, I'm nitpicking with the last paragraph and those issues are mostly insignificant. Overall the D2 is a very good PMP.

I think he means this thread is useless.

What do you think you could gain from people rating their own PMPs on a 1/10 scale, people that most likely don't have experience with other players?

Read some reviews and form your own opinion, that would be quite a bit more enlightening, IMO. If you browse through the forums here you will discover the advantages and disadvantages of the various players pretty soon as well.

Our compare database is a mighty tool as well.

How about making this battle a bit more interesting, by comparing players similar in price. Let's have some price categories.

1) $50 or under-I guess the 2 gig Clip wins this. Not much more to discuss
2) Under $100 Perhaps the 8 gig Fuze can be included in this category for those who shop carefully. There are some other players that might be considered as well, although the others probably are under 8 gigs and don't have a card slot.
3) Under $150 A 4 gig D2 just barely makes it in here.

4) Under $200. This category includes many players. I guess the under $50, under $100, and under $200 categories are the most important. One could get a 4 gig D2 and a 16 gig class 6 SD card for $200 if they shop carefully.

5) Under $300. This category includes several 32 gig flash based players, and the Zune 80. Few mp3 player buyers are willing to pay over $300.
