Default F40 is fried.. can I save the HD?

Basically my worst case scenario happened to me... the HD I was using on my computer to back up my music died on me. But I figure, oh well the gigabeat has a HD and I can just back it up again when I'm up and running.

But lo and behold not too much later the gigabeat got lit up by some very ridiculous lightning and now I'm without my music collection

The obvious answer would be to try to find another f40 because I do like the damned thing and just swap out the HDs, but it looks like they arent as easy to find as they were just 6 months ago.
So my question is: is there another player out there which would be compatible with the F40 HD (and why have prices gone UP while storage has gone DOWN thank you apple)
OR is there some sort of connector cable which I can use to transfer the contents of the HD to a PC HD for the time being?

Are you sure it is fried? What happened to it to make you think it is?

Edit: I found one external enclosure on NewEgg and a few on Deal Extreme.

If you know what kind of hard drive is in you can look at them.

If you do not know yet, here is some info: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/vie...iveReplacement
