Decided to buy A720.
4gb = $206 Is it expensive? it comes with sony pouch, screen protector and an AC-charge. I got white colour. A820 was out of stock -.- Also good for my pocket ![]() Up until now, love the sound quality.. have played around with the equalizer and DAC firmware setup. |

Turn it off, OR just wait and it goes into sleep mode, without a hit on the battery. 1 of the great features built into the Sony players.

Sony Walkmans produce some of the best sound in a portable player that I've heard plus they tend to give you good headphones so you get great sound without having to upgrade to a Shure or whatever. The thng I dislike the most is that they have their own connecter instead of a mini usb. I have several mini usbs from various devices that I bought over the years and keep one near the different computers I use, but with the NWZ, I have to always bring it with me if I want to charge the player, or buy more of their connecters. Plus if you lose it, you're screwed until you buy another one. Sony loves proprietary stuff so you spend more money.

means I dont have to turn it off everytime right.. thanks.. anyway, spillthebeans is correct. i don't quite like the proprietary connection ![]() nywytboy: why did u choose the A829 series? Are you going to use the bluetooth feature? SQ wise, is it the same between A820 and A720? |

The SQ is the same on both players. As for why I've got the A829 instead of the A729 - I got a deal from a buddy & paid less then the A729 costs. And as for the BT - not gonna use it myself - usless feature for me.

gripes...
no horizontal gui so long filenames can be more easily read. no podcast/audio book directory to keep such files separate from music no multiple bookmarks for said directory no working time machine shuffle for many mp3s because it can't read their year tag no delete from device from menu no fast seek no ums no gui access when plugged in slow copy to device speed no flash mem slot no auto stop play when headphone cord gets ripped out. no 16 mil color display good battery life sound quality bundled headphones size weight bright screen smooth video playback |

ok , speed is the same. but multitasking is better. navigating while a file transfer is in progress etc goes like it should whereas mtp seems to be single task only. Last edited by frimframsauce; 09-05-2008 at 05:08 PM. |

Are you using Drag&Drop or a prog to sync? I'd like to know myself, as I'll try this IF it doesn't slow down my transfer speed (it's bad enough) w/J.River Media Jukebox.

Then I personally would get no real benefit from using MSC myself, except if I D&D vids, which I RARELY do. Thanks though, lots will be happy for the info!!!

I thought the BT feature is quite a useful feature. I love non-wire earphone, not troublesome. Or does it compromise the sound quality? |

I'm not saying it's got bad SQ or anything, I just use wired headphones. Haven't gotten' to the point of going wireless yet.

as far as i know it does compromise the sound quality, bt bandwidth isn't enough for lossless. so its recompressed.

yea oddly enough you can use it and turn it off while charging if you use a ac to usb adaptor.
